“Bilingual Short Video” Tourism Marketing Competition on Auswor
In November and December 2020, the International School organized the “Bilingual Short Video" Tourism Marketing Competition on Auswor. The competition provided contestants’ the opportunity to apply their professional marketing knowledge and short video processing capability. The competition effectively combined traditional marketing methods with new media, aiming to enhance students' practical ability and their employment competitiveness.

On November 14th, all the winners from the preliminary stage visited Auswor, an ecological culture tourism resort, located in Zengcheng District, Guangzhou. They mainly visited four attractions: The Science Museum, the Wedding Chapel, the Rainbow Slide, and the Australia Zoo. During the time, students freely took photographs, enjoyed themselves, and gained creative inspiration.

The Science Museum exhibiting rare animal specimens, the solemn and holy Wedding Chapel, the exciting Rainbow Slide, and the Australian Zoo rich of animal varieties enticed students to linger. The sights and sounds encouraged the contestants to snap photos and shoot their video clips freely.
On December 23, the final of the “Bilingual Short Video” Tourism Marketing Competition was successfully held in the lecture hall of the library. The judges and guests attending included: Ms. Liu Jingping, Deputy General Manager of Auswor; Ms. Tan Yuying, Assistant of the Deputy President of Huashang Education Group; Ms. Zhang Bingjie, faculty of the School of Economics and Management; Ms. Zhao Anqi, faculty of the School of Communication and Media; Prof. Li Pinghai, Deputy Dean of the International School and Mr. Yang Lijun, Academic Counsellor of the International School.
Five teams won out in the preliminary round and entered into the final round: Tu Le Team, Gan Fan Team, Force Team, Button Team and Spindrift Team. In the first part, each team showed their video works and gave presentations. They made detailed analysis on Auswor from the following aspects: an introduction of the attraction, market demand, local characteristics, consumer preference and the promotion plan. The competitors were focused on illustrating their elaborate schemes, creating an enjoyable and interesting atmosphere.
After the presentation, the judges highly praised the contestants for their excellent performance and delightful videos, and questioned them about the brand image, the positioning of Auswor, the promotion linking with schools and their creative ideas on publicity. The contestants confidently put forward their opinions and answered questions. The guests suggested that the kangaroo should be used as a symbol to be integrated into the related activities. The judges suggested that the participating teams should set up a good theme when promoting the project, pay attention to local characteristics, fully integrate Chinese and Western cultures, and create more innovative ideas.

Subsequently, Dean Li commented on the competition. He expressed sincere congratulations to the finalists, affirmed the superior resource and platform, and appreciated the creative solutions provided by each team. In addition, he also put forward suggestions on the “project life cycle” and “creating incentive mechanism” to bring inspiration and thinking to the audience.

After the audience’s voting and judges’ scoring, the Button Team won the first prize and the most popular award, the Force Team got the second prize, the Spindrift Team won the third prize, the Gan Fan Team and the Tu Le Team got the excellence award.
